The government of Mexico City condemned the violence that occurred during the demonstration called 'Generation Z' and attributed it to 'a radical group of protesters'. The statement emphasizes that 'freedom of expression, social protest, and citizen participation are essential pillars of our democratic life; however, no right can be exercised at the expense of the integrity, public peace, or the security of the population'. The authorities warned about the possible participation of 'political actors with interests unrelated to the common good, whose intervention can distort legitimate citizen expressions'. The state governors also reaffirmed their support for the president: 'We reaffirm our firm support for President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo in her efforts to strengthen peace and security, and to advance towards a more just, united, and secure nation for all'. According to the authorities, the mobilization brought together approximately 17,000 people. During the clashes, initiated by a group of hooded individuals, 20 civilians and 100 police officers were injured. The head of the Mexico City Police, Pablo Vázquez, reported that they are already working to identify the individuals who committed criminal acts during the march, in coordination with the Prosecutor's Office, and that the corresponding investigation files will be initiated. The head of government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, condemned the acts of violence and stated that the city 'is and always will be a place where rights and freedoms are guaranteed'. However, she emphasized that 'expressing oneself violently attacks the rights of others, and that is why we energetically condemn any form of violence in the city, and specifically, the one that occurred this afternoon in the Zócalo'.
